PHI Air Purification System
The Photohydroionization (PHI) Package Unit by RCP® is designed to eliminate sick building syndrome risks by reducing odors, air pollutants, VOCs (chemical odors), smoke, mold, bacteria, and viruses. This product is designed specifically for package systems and utilizes adjustable magnetic feet to attach without fasteners to the blower unit itself making Installation as trouble free as possible. This 20V model connects directly into the control box of the HVAC unit. Now available in 5″, 9″, and 14″ cells which will handle package products from 1.5 to 20 tons. Perfect for all applications where duct work is hard to get to.
Why Use RGF's Photohydroionization® Technology?
Germicidal UV light rays have been used for decades by the medical industry as a method for destroying micro-organisms (germs, viruses, bacteria). UV light is dependable and can be easily installed in HVAC systems. Germicidal UV light is effective in reducing only the airborne micro-organisms that pass directly through the light rays. However, germicidal UV light has little to no effect on gases, vapors or odors. Photohydroionization® Advanced Oxidation, which is and active system, on the other hand, is very effective on gases, vapors, VOCs and odors within the occupied space.
The RGF Package Unit utilizes UV light enhanced by a hydrated quad-metallic compound target which develops an advanced oxidation reaction that creates hydro-peroxides, super oxide ions and hydroxides. By engineering the proper UV light wavelength, in combination with a triple function, no maintenance unit, The PHI Cell provides safe hydrogen peroxides to purify the air. With the RGF HVAC-PHI Cell Advanced Oxidation System, micro-organisms can be reduced by over 95%. Gases, VOCs and odors can also be reduced significantly, and the room will have hydro-peroxides, super oxide ion and hydroxides which will help give your room fresh, clean and odor free air.

Frequently Asked Questions About Photo Hydro Ionization (PHI) Air Purification
What is a Photo Hydro Ionization (PHI) air purification system?
A Photo Hydro Ionization (PHI) system is a whole-home air purification solution that installs inside your HVAC system. It uses advanced technology to help reduce airborne contaminants, odors, bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and other pollutants as air circulates throughout your home.
How does Photo Hydro Ionization work?
A PHI system uses ultraviolet (UV) light along with a specialized catalytic process to create safe, naturally occurring oxidizers that help neutralize airborne pollutants. These oxidizers travel through your ductwork and into your living spaces, helping improve the air throughout your home.
What are the benefits of a PHI air purification system?
A PHI system can help reduce dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, bacteria, viruses, smoke, and unpleasant odors. Many homeowners notice fresher indoor air, less dust accumulation, and a healthier living environment after installation.
Can a PHI system help with allergies?
Yes. While no air purification system can eliminate allergies, a PHI system can help reduce many common airborne allergens such as pollen, pet dander, mold spores, and dust that circulate through your HVAC system, creating a cleaner indoor environment.
Will a PHI system remove odors?
Yes. Photo Hydro Ionization systems are designed to help reduce odors caused by cooking, pets, smoke, mildew, and everyday household activities. Rather than covering up odors, they work to reduce many of the airborne contaminants that create them.
Can a PHI system help reduce bacteria and viruses?
PHI technology is designed to help reduce certain airborne bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms as air moves through your HVAC system. While no air purification system can guarantee complete elimination of every contaminant, a PHI unit can be an effective part of an overall indoor air quality strategy.
Is Photo Hydro Ionization safe for my home?
Yes. When professionally installed and maintained, PHI systems are designed to safely improve indoor air quality while operating with your existing HVAC system. Our technicians can help you determine if this technology is the right fit for your home.
Can a PHI air purifier be installed on my current HVAC system?
In most cases, yes. Photo Hydro Ionization systems are compatible with many existing heating and cooling systems. Harbin Heating & Air can inspect your equipment and recommend the best whole-home air purification solution for your needs.
Does a PHI system replace my HVAC air filter?
No. Your HVAC air filter and PHI system work together. The air filter captures larger airborne particles, while the PHI system helps reduce smaller contaminants, odors, and microorganisms that circulate through your home's air.
Does a PHI system require maintenance?
Yes. Like other HVAC accessories, a PHI system should be inspected during your routine HVAC maintenance visits. Depending on the model, the UV lamp or other components may need periodic replacement to maintain peak performance.
Is it better to install a PHI system when replacing my HVAC equipment?
Many homeowners choose to add a PHI air purification system when installing a new heating and cooling system because it's an ideal time to upgrade indoor air quality. However, PHI systems can often be added to existing HVAC systems as well.
What areas do you install Photo Hydro Ionization systems?
Harbin Heating & Air proudly installs Photo Hydro Ionization air purification systems for homeowners throughout Counce, Pickwick, Savannah, Selmer, Adamsville, Corinth, and surrounding communities across West Tennessee and North Mississippi. If you're looking to improve your indoor air quality, reduce allergens, and enjoy cleaner air throughout your home, our experienced team is ready to help.
